Creative Strength Training
Member Exhibitions
An integral part of our online community.
Our online exhibitions evolved as a result of pandemic isolation.
It occurred to us that one way to make Zoom meetings more engaging, would be to host two online exhibitions as part of CST. There would be no fee, and no jurying process. Everyone was welcome to send images and as long as they were printable, they were in! This proved to be a wonderful way to see what members were working on, and to celebrate our diversity.
The exhibitions became an integral part of our yearly community.
Each year we host a Member Exhibition in August, and an exhibition we call Inspired by Archetypes which is unveiled in December, after we have been talking about archetypes as part of the creative process. Both yearly exhibitions are lavishly represented by both an online publication, designed by K Wayne Harms, and also available for purchase (at cost) through Amazon.com.

The pieces included in this exhibition feature archetypes, and were made by participants in the 2021 online program.
Every year our community studies archetypes as they relate to creative process, along with tutorials on art practices. This year we focussed on the development of a personal series of works. Not everyone chose to work with archetypes, but sixty-nine artists submitted work for inclusion in this show. Some artists worked specifically with the theme of an archetype every month, while others worked with the help of a personal archetype as a piece evolved.
I am delighted to share these wonderful pieces with you, and I applaud the artists who rose to the challenge to submit their work.

Reviewing the entries submitted for this members' online exhibition has been a thrilling time for Wayne and me.
Our offices are next door to each other and it hasn’t been unusual for Wayne to start the day by calling out to me, “You’ve got to come and see this!”. One piece after another surprised and delighted us! And it was stunning to realize that this year’s exhibition has almost doubled over the size of our first exhibition in 2020.
The diversity of our community was always understood but never quantified until last year’s inaugural exhibition. As was true then, this year we have tangible evidence of the many distinctive talents of participants, including quilting and stitching, along with the use of clay, and all varieties of mixed media and drawing.

Inspired by Archetypes
Members’ Exhibition
I’m pleased to present the Creative Strength Training 2020 Members Exhibition and Inspired by the Archetypes exhibitions.
My ten-month course encourages participants to discover the creative opportunities that exist all around us every day. Through a combination of essays and video tutorials we study composition, working in a series and what it means to be an artist. This exhibition is our first online endeavor. Eighty course participants submitted images for the democratic open call. In this catalogue you will be delighted by art quilts, mixed media textiles, collage, graphite and pan pastel drawings and even woodworking. Many of the pieces are available for sale. If you find something you love, contact the artist directly to arrange purchase.
