Lesson Five - Donalee K.

I started this project at the top left corner, and by the time I got to the 5th color I finally felt like I recognized what I was doing.  The Gray Scale Wheel I made in Week 2 was a HUGE help!  When I got to color #3 (Blue) and I did the complementary color it hit me…..The reason this fabric is pleasing to me, is that it’s made up of complementary colors…. it’s what makes it so strong and powerful.  But balance has been created by the lighter or darker shades of of several of the complements!!!  AhHa!  Wow… I feel like a light just turned on, and thank goodness I was home to see it!!

Question: On the Gray Scale & Value Finder you suggested in our supply list and your referred to on a video, uses numbers on the different grays 1-10. 1 being black and 10 being white.  Are those numbers universal, or just invented by this company?  It differs completely from our conversations about 12 o’clock etc.

I’m going to do a couple more prints… but I wanted to send this first just to make sure I’m on the “right” track……. it’s great fun exploring color!!
