I feel like this still needs some work...
For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in textiles. My mother taught me embroidery, knitting, crocheting and sewing at a very young age. My interest in travel, history, nature and fashion was always encouraged . Always eager to move forward in life, it seemed obvious that I would eventually earn a degree in Textiles, Clothing and Culture. My mother is an important influence in my life and encouraged me to have experiences that built my confidence, independence and sense of adventure.
I find my inspiration in the life around me in my current home in Alaska, in the natural world and the manufactured world. I love to work with textiles and recently found a passion for surface design. I currently use several different surface design techniques to transfer my inspiration into my creations of one of a kind wearable art, wall art and decor.
My interests are diverse and expansive, ranging from the color to social justice. It is best described as a desire to achieve balance and symmetry in every aspect of my life. There is an order to life and to the unfolding of natural processes in the same way that there is an order to creating a piece of art.
