This week’s assignment about unleashing the inner rebel is the reason I decided to sign up for CST, even though I was pretty sure I would be the only photographer in the class. I knew there could be a challenge translating assignments into photography, but I also knew that the language of art is universal. If I had to “stretch” it at times to do an assignment, I would. I liked the idea I would have to expand my view and try out some new tools, too. Looking at my response to and execution of the first two assignments, I realize I felt torn between doing the assignments as instructed and using them as a jumping off point/inspiration for work that reflects my personal interests and direction in photography. As rebel/coward, I tried to do a little of each.
