I found the Notan exercise very meditative. I enjoyed just looking at my square, reflecting on the possibilities, then just starting to cut. I could easily get addicted to this! I did a couple each day, following rules and breaking rules with varying results. No matter the outcome, it was fun and energizing.
I decided to start with a shape other than a square. I cut a circle, then cut out the center so I had a wheel. I cut the wheel into pieces then mirrored them to the inside rather than outside of the circle. I experimented with filling the center with a piece of my leftover circle but preferred the openness of the center. It has possibilities. It will keep me thinking!
